Moravian SFW-XXL Standalone Filter Wheel

The Standalone Filter Wheel (SFW) is a fully independent, computer-controlled filter exchanger—ideal when you need more filter slots or larger filters than External Filter Wheels allow. With its dual-wheel architecture, the SFW operates without a camera-hosted driver: it has its own power input, USB interface, and driver stack, making it compatible with any imaging system.

Key Features

• Dual-wheel design stacks two 5–9-position wheels side by side for extended capacity

• Three filter‐size variants:

  • 65 × 65 mm square: 8+Clear positions (9 total)

  • 50 × 50 mm square: 12+Clear positions (13 total)

  • 2″ (D50 mm) threaded cells: 16+Clear positions (17 total)

• Independent control & power via 12 V DC (5.5 × 2.5 mm) and USB 1.1 Type B

• Standalone drivers: system USB, ASCOM (Windows), INDI (Linux/macOS), and Moravian SDK

• SIPS support from v4.1 onward, plus compatibility with Moravian Camera Ethernet Adapter

Filter Capacity

Operation: Slot 1 is clear; slots 2–N on bottom wheel; slots N+1–end on top wheel.

Mechanical & Mounting

• Tiltable adapter designs available for precise sensor alignment.

• Off-Axis Guider (C3-OAG) attaches to the same M68 × 1 or M85 × 1 interface.

Connectivity & Software

• Power: 12 V DC / 5 A via included brick adapter

• Data: USB 1.1 Type B (2 m cable included)

• Optional: Moravian Camera Ethernet Adapter shares SFW over 1 Gbps network

• Drivers:

  • Windows: native USB + ASCOM driver

  • Linux/macOS: native USB + INDI/driver libraries

  • SIPS: picks up SFW as independent wheel in Filters tab
